New in Hartselle: Main Street and PEACHES!

The town of Hartselle, Alabama has been busy with ribbon-cutting ceremonies in the last year with more coming in 2020. The new shops and eateries are enhanced by fresh sidewalks and if you head east on Highway 36, you'll see our very own version of Clanton's Peach Park taking shape.

The hamburgers at Bentley's at the Outhouse are gaining fans rapidly as are the pizzas coming out of the brick oven at Pizza Ed.

You must stop in for lunch or sweets prepared by Lindsay Kubica in her corner location across from The Depot. It's called Sugar Mamas, and I guarantee you'll be greeted by her warm welcome. Lindsay was one of my memorable students when I taught elementary music at Burleson, and she's still a delight to know as an adult with a beautiful family.

Nate's, MEGA Granite, ShoeFisticated, Ice Works Shaved Ice and What's Popp'N? are new businesses on Main Street, and be sure to notice the small park (made possible by a grant) and the attractive banners (also as a result of a grant) that add to the appeal of Hartselle's downtown.

What is probably my personal favorite along Highway 36 -- Reeves Peach Farm -- is undergoing a large construction project and an expansion of its business. Fingers are crossed for it to open in mid-April, but most certainly by May the large building with its quality fruits and vegetables will begin to lure travelers off of the interstate. Those of us who are local will find ourselves noticing license plates we've never seen before.

Mike and Lynn Reeves, along with their sons David and Jackson, will be offering ice cream, cobblers, sandwiches, fried pies, barbecue, salads and side dishes, along with their bumper crops of strawberries, peaches, vegetables and fall pumpkins. I can hardly wait!

Hartselle's annual Depot Days Festival is scheduled this year for Saturday, September 19, but don't wait until then to visit the town. We have dozens of businesses eager to welcome you with a big dose of Southern hospitality.
