RESOURCES I RECOMMEND to Help You Grow Spiritually
Today I want to point you to some resources that I can personally vouch for because I know the authors very well. One is my husband, and the other is my son.
My husband Steve has incredible wisdom and tremendous depth of insight gleaned from being a child of God for over 60 years. He writes a weekly post for our church's blog that is published every Friday. The blog is almost hidden within the First Baptist Church website, but here is a link. https://www.fbchartselle.org/impact You will find personal devotions and reflections as well as encouragement and information directed specifically to church members. He puts a lot of prayer, time and thought into each post, and I think you'll find them helpful.
My son Matt is the pastor of The Church at West Franklin in Franklin, TN. When you have 28-30 minutes sometime, I believe you would benefit from watching and hearing one of his sermons. Most recently, he has been preaching a series based on Psalm 23, so I'd recommend that you start with the first one. Click on "Restoring the Soul," then go to Dealing with Anxiety. The second one is Dealing with Depression, and the third is Dealing with Loneliness. Other topics might grab your attention as you scroll through this link to his sermon archives.
Matt also writes a blog. His posts are often used to give extra tips, insights and suggestions to his church members, but I haven't found a single one that didn't also apply to me. He doesn't have a set posting schedule, but when he does stop to write, it is well worth reading. You can find it here -- http://mattpearsononline.com/
As for me, I've been pondering the subject of contentment a lot lately. My pastor recently preached from Philippians 4 and stirred up a lot of thoughts that I'm working through. I promise to share what God is teaching me about contentment soon, but in the meantime, let me leave you with this verse.
Philippians 4:8 - "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
