From Alabama to Arizona: Monument Valley in Navajo Land

Just when we were beginning to seriously question our decision to drive all the way from Alabama to Arizona, along came today.
The drive from Santa Fe, NM to Monument Valley, AZ was absolutely mesmerizing with the stunning landscape changing often and getting increasingly wonderful. We estimated the drive to be about six hours, so we left Santa Fe at 7:00 a.m. in order to have plenty of time to comfortably reach the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in time for our jeep tour at 3:00 p.m.
We had an informative Navajo guide named Harry who was skilled in navigating the extremely bumpy dirt road getting us up close and personal to many of the most famous sandstone buttes and mesas. We were "treated" to a dust storm (in our open-air 4 x 4), a tumbleweed blast, a family of wild horses, and totally stunning scenery. It is easy to understand why so many movies have been filmed in this Valley. In fact, there was a crew on site today filming a movie that will be out next year. Unfortunately, I didn't recognize any stars, nor did I catch the name of the movie.
Instead of reading my thoughts, please enjoy a sample of photos I took.

We ended the day with some delicious Indian fry bread.

Our room for tonight is in the nearby town of Kayenta. Tomorrow our destination is Sedona. Have a blessed day of worship.
