From Arizona Back to Alabama: Breakfast in AZ, Lunch in NM, Dinner in TX

Hurray for being back on Central Daylight Time!!
The questionable hotel from last night in Willcox, AZ had a very nice cooked-to-order breakfast. (A happy surprise). We made our way to Las Cruces, NM for lunch at Chillito's, and then had dinner at K-BOB's Steakhouse here in Fort Stockton, TX. Between meals, we plowed through I-10 East.
It must be said. There are times when chain hotels with familiarity and "normal" amenities are welcome. Tonight (at Comfort Suites) we're happy that each of us has a comfortable place to sit, plenty of room to put our toiletries in the bathroom, an ice machine, lots of electrical outlets, and a convenient location. But, wouldn't you know? We're on the second floor, and "the elevator is out of order." :) Thank goodness we're not higher. :)
Several random thoughts, in case you decide to follow a similar route:
1) Fortunately, we had a full tank of gas when we left out this morning. Gas stations are few and far between. Stay prepared.
2) We've been very surprised with the abundance of mountains in this part of the country. The Organ Mountains provided the backdrop in Las Cruces, but I have no idea about the names of other ranges we passed.
3) I love the decorated overpasses and walls at exits in many of these Western states. I wish Alabama would consider doing something like that.
4) We're currently listening to "I Wish Someone Had Told Me . . ." by Dana Perino on Audible. In the first week of our trip, we heard "Counting Miracles" by Nicholas Sparks. It contained MANY Bible verses. I wonder if it will be made into a movie. I'd recommend finding some titles that interest you. It really helps when you're on an interstate.
5) Kudos to my Silver Fox. He takes such good care of me. The 24-hour-a-day togetherness has been a true pleasure.
Tomorrow we'll be totally in Texas. It's a BIG state!! Our goal is Waco. I expect to do a little shopping. :)
