Brunch in The Treehouse

Our first goal was to spend some quality time with our granddaughter who is a sophomore at Lipscomb University in Nashville. Almost as important was respecting her strong desire to avoid exposure to COVID-19 so she could stay on campus and be able to actively engage in college life. Then there was the sub-goal of being a travel writing grandmother who wanted to instill a little "cool factor" into the equation. Can't blame a girl for trying, right?

The perfect solution came about in the form of enjoying Sunday brunch on the outdoor patio of The Treehouse, a popular restaurant in the Five Points section of East Nashville, only about 20 minutes from Allie's campus. As an added bonus, the weather when we were together was absolutely perfect - a slight breeze with very mild temperatures.

The service was friendly, the atmosphere of The Treehouse was hip and trendy enough to suit Allie's generation, and the food was very good.

Steve and Allie both ordered the Brandy French Toast with bacon.

I tried the Bologna Benedict.

We all sipped on our glasses of Hibiscus Fruit Tea.

It was delightful. No one made us feel rushed, and the conversation was stimulating and reassuring. It helped that although Allie was familiar with the East Nashville area, she had never eaten there or even heard of the place. She was "tuned in" to the music being played (piped in, not live) and approved the choices. She declared it a winner, and I suspect she'll return with friends in tow before long.

I would love to return for lunch or dinner in the future, because both of those menus look outstanding. I was too involved in conversation to make many photos, but there really IS a treehouse in the backyard and the patio wraps under and around the branches of a towering tree. The building itself was once the home of Buddy Spicher, a fiddle virtuoso who is a music legend in Nashville.

The address for your GPS is 1011 Clearview Avenue in Nashville, and the hours of operation are 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 to 10:00 on Saturday and 10:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
